Today Google launched a much requested feature, A feature that will help you take backup of your Google Service’s data. Google already had the Takeout option setup but didn’t support major services like Gmail, YouTube or Google Calendar. With the arrival of all major services – A total of 14+ and counting, You will be able to export or download your Google Account data that you can use for backup purposes or for importing into other services.
For example, The Gmail data you export is available in the MBOX format that is supported by major Email Clients like Microsoft Outlook, Mozilla Thunderbird, Apple’s Mail Client etc. Which will help you easily import your Gmail messages into your offline client.
The Gmail option is under progress but Calender is made available along with 13 other services. They are :
- Google+ Circles
- Google+ Streams
- Google+ Pages
- Google+ Photos
- Location History
Gmail should be made available by the end of this month, ie. December 2013. Till then you can download your important data from Google Servers.
