The “Tip” series of posts is something I had thought to publish for a long time. I will get it started today and in these series of posts I will write short (very short) blog posts sharing simple and useful tips to help you out with your digital endeavors. Let me start with something Android related that you would find useful.
This is a simple trick to hide your photos, videos or mp3/music files from your Android’s gallery or music/media player. Here is a scenario where this tip could be useful.
Usually when you install a new game on your device, It has some inbuilt music or cut scenes (videos) which might get scanned and added to your Music Player library. This is annoying when you set your player to shuffle. Using this tip, You can keep those files for the Game but hide them from your player.
This is how you can hide these files.
Step 1. Open a file explorer (such as ES File Explorer) on your Android.
Step 2. Browse to the folder which has the unwanted media file (music/video).
Step 3. Create a New File there and name it “.nomedia” (without the quotes).
Step 4. Rescan your media player or reboot your Android.
You can go a step further and make the files “Hidden” using a PC.
Now all the media files in that directory will be ignored by your Gallery or Media player. But these files can still be accessed using the File Explorer. To re-add them to the Gallery, Just delete the .nomedia file and rescan/reboot Android.
Share this simple trick with your friends on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.
