You have probably seen an increase in the number of Suggested (Sponsored) Pages with the Long Like Button to the top right of the post. This was getting annoying for me and I had posted the same on the HackTabs Fanpage and found many of our fans are also annoyed by this new sponsored stuff that has hit Facebook.
In the above Fanpage Post you can see I have written a quick method to block those posts from the News Feed, A little more of research brought me to Greasemonkey Scripts and I played around with it for a few minutes that lead me to an unsuccessful Greasemonkey Script
But I found another developer had developed a perfectly working Script to block the Sponsored posts. Here is how you can use it, But first if you use Adblock extension on your browser you can do the following.
1. Block Using Adblock Filter.
Step 1. Press Ctrl + Shift + F to bring up the Custom Filters in Adblock.
Step 2. Go to the Ad Blocking Rules tab, Followed by a Click on the ‘Add Filter’ button.
Step 3. Paste the following code in the new filter rule and Press Close to save it.
facebook.com##.storyInnerContent.storyContent
Step 4. Refresh Facebook Homepage.
2. Block Using Greasemonkey Script.
Step 1. Install Greasemonkey extension on your browser.
Step 2. Install this Greasemonkey Script. [LINK]
Step 3. Refresh Facebook Homepage.
Hope that cleans up your homepage from the Sponsored stuff! If this helped you do share it with your friends on Facebook.
