How To Add Google Maps or Nokia Maps to iOS 6 Home Screen

In an open letter, Apple’s CEO Tim Cook apologized for the customer dissatisfaction with the new Apple Maps app. He suggested Google Maps as an alternative to those dissatisfied with Apple’s current Maps App.

Taking this opportunity, Google sent out an update via its Google Plus page detailing steps to add Google Maps to Apple iOS 6 or any other versions home screen. The steps are simple and easy to follow and you can do it within 30 seconds max.

Adding Google Maps to Apple iOS Home Screen.

Step 1. Open the Apple’s Safari browser and go to maps.google.com

Step 2. Tap the Share button on the bottom middle of the screen on iPhone and at the top on an iPad.

Step 3. Click on ‘Add to Home Screen’.

Step 4. Click on Add on the upper right corner of the Screen.

Step 5. Done. To access Google Maps now just tap on the icon the screen.

Adding Nokia Maps or any other website has the same procedure.. For Nokia Maps browse to the maps.nokia.com URL in the 1st Step.

Interestingly Apple has put up these instructions on its website and recommends Google or Nokia Maps.
