Login Notifications for Unauthorized Logins

This feature notifies the account owner when an unauthorized login is attempted and is successful. There are two modes of notification, one is by Email and other is by Mobile SMS. I prefer to activate both since you would rarely check your email.

  1. Click Account Settings > Account Security.
  2. Under Login Notifications, Tick Send me an email and Send me a text message.
  3. Click Save.

Login Approval for Each Facebook Login Attempt.

This is a new account security feature by facebook named Two Factor Authentication. This is one of the best inventions that I can think of by facebook security team. The feature works like this, You add your phone number to facebook and then every time you login to facebook using your password the servers sends you a onetime verification code to your mobile as SMS, This is a tedious task but it is a strong way to secure your account from invalid and unauthorized login attempts.

  1. Click Account Settings > Account Security.
  2. Under Login Approvals, Tick “Require me to enter a security code sent to my phone”.
  3. Click Save.

How to Detect Un-Authorized Logins to Your Account

  1. Click Account Settings > Account Security.
  2. Check the “Most Recent Activity and “Your recognized devices:”
  3. If you recognize any unrecognized activity click End and Change your password.

  5. I recommend you remove all the apps and start afresh.

Edit Your Interests

If you were hit by the spam then you might have liked a lot of spam facebook pages which helps them to spread the spam virally. These pages accumulate in your profile in the My Interests Section.

  1. Go to your profile.
  2. Click Edit Profile.
  3. Remove the spam pages from your account.

WARNING : Facebook has limited the pages that can be liked to 500 per account, So eliminate all the spam and unwanted pages from your profile.

Report to Facebook

If you think you were a victim of account hacking then you can report to Facebook directly at this address : [email protected]

If your account has been compromised and taken over by a phisher then report the page @ Facebook Phished Account Report. Also you can report malicious links @ this page : Malicious Link Report.

Entered the Malicious Link in your Address Bar?

If you’ve entered a line of malicious code into your browser and believe that someone has taken control of your profile and is in the process of spamming your friends, log out of Facebook to stop the attack. Also Facebook now warns you if your facebook profile is posting to other profiles at an incredible speed.

Hope this post has cleared all your facebook security issues, Now go ahead and lead a Peaceful Social Life and DON’T click on unnecessary links.
