Yesterday Spotify tweeted that they have removed the time restrictions from their free plan which actually allowed Spotify Free users to only stream 10 hours of music per month after a 6 month grace period. Adding to the limitation was that you could listen to a song only 5 times (which was later waved off last year).

Now that these restrictions are removed, You can listen to unlimited hours of free music on your desktop and mobile Spotify app but the Advertisement still stays (which is fine). You might hear a minute or so of advertisement in between two songs along with the Adsense ads in the Player.

Since Spotify has opened up free music streaming, Everyone would love to grab their own share but unfortunately Spotify isn’t available in all countries. The service is available only in select countries such as United States, United Kingdom etc. Check the complete list of supported countries.

If you are outside the supported countries and you visit the homepage, You are greeted with a message that says:

Spotify is currently not available in your country.

But that shouldn’t stop you from enjoying the free music. In this guide, I will show you how to get your own account on Spotify outside US and UK and start listening to free music.

Let us get started.

How to Use Spotify outside US & UK.

Step 1. Download and Install Cyberghost VPN.

Step 2. Open up Cyberghost VPN and click on the Simulated Country > Select UK as the country > OK.

Select UK Server on VPN

Select UK Server on VPN

Step 3. Click on the big power button to connect to the UK proxy server.

Step 4. Once your connection is successful, Visit Ip2Location to verify that your proxy is working.

Step 5. Visit Spotify website and Signup with a Facebook account or via Email address > Verify your account.

Step 6. Download and install the Spotify desktop application (all while you are still connected to UK proxy server).

Step 7. Login to your account from the Desktop application and you have successfully created a Spotify free user account.

(Optional) Step 8. Press the Like button on this article to share it on Facebook.

Now you can safely disconnect your VPN (UK proxy server), You only needed it for the first login using desktop application. For further logins you can use your own IP.

You can also install the Spotify Android application and sync your playlist to listen to music on both devices. Do keep in mind that on the Android app, You can only shuffle play your playlist with a limit of 6 ‘skips’ per hour. That is not so bad for unlimited free music.

Anoop , thanks for the article. For those who live outside US and want to access Spotify, you can use UnoTelly as I do to get around the geo block.

Tried this and it worked, but after a while, the application detects your real IP and logs you out. Solution?
