Recently my blog started getting a huge hit of spam comments and trackback spams but fortunately they were directed to the spam comments by the great Akismet plugin, One of the spammer was constantly spamming with his comment on my blog. Though it got unapproved but it still annoys to have spams sitting in your bin. So I decided to ban the IP from my blog and this is How I did it.
For Those Who Dont Have Akismet Plugin.
Many of you readers might not be using the Akismet plugin, Though I fully recommend adding the plugin but for those who dont own it here are two ways to protect your blog from spam
Use WordPress Comments Blacklist.
When you encounter any spam comment then copy the IP Address of the spammer and add it to your comments blacklist. (WordPress Settings>Discussion>Comment Blacklist.)
Using WP-Spam Free Plugin.
This is a free plugin which can be found in the wordpress plugins repository. You can read more about it at Wp-SpamFree anti spam alternative to Akismet.

How to Setup a Spam Blacklist for WordPress.
Now even though you might be using any antispam plugin but it does not prevent spammers from accessing your blog. To block them from accessing your blog you have to IP Ban them, Here is how to do it.
- Login to your cPanel.
- Click IP Deny Manager under the Security Tab.
- Enter the IP you want to block in the space given and press Add.
- Now you have successfully setup a Spam Blacklist for your blog.

Tip: To block new spammers you can go to StopForumSpam. and collect the Top IP Addresses and add it to the deny manager.
