Google Chrome browser is being used by millions of people. The browser is fast and secure but is vulnerable to issues like any other browsers out there.
Issues like unwanted toolbars, extensions, malware, site blocking and redirects are a few to start with. Google has realized that many chrome users are facing such problems and has finally decided to release a fix for it.
What is Software Removal Tool?
Google has now released a quick fix tool named ‘Software Removal Tool’ to help users with the above mentioned kind of Chrome issues.
The software identifies the unwanted toolbars and extensions and gives you an option to remove them permanently.
The software weighs around 4MB and and doesn’t need any installation. You can start using it as soon as the download completes.
When you first run the Software Removal Tool, it will scan for and display to you a list of unwanted and potentially harmful toolbars or extensions.
Then it proceeds by asking you if you want to remove them permanently. Furthermore it also gives you an option to reset you Chrome browser.
Once you reset your browser it will return to its original state like it was when you first installed it. Which will remove all your Bookmarks, Saved Passwords, Extensions and Settings. Do it as a last resort.
I recommend that you use the program atleast once a month to check if there are any unwanted stuff in your browser.
I wish there was such a solution for other browsers as well. Firefox users can start by checking their installed extensions and plugins page and start removing any unknown items that may be installed.
Tip : Google for the extension name if you don’t recognize it. Look through the results and you will most certainly find a clue about what the extension does.
