How to Upgrade Your Box.Com Account from 5GB to 50GB for Free

Box.com

Last year in the month of December, Box.com was running a Promotion where they were giving away 50GB of free storage to any free Box.com user who owns an LG Android Device. All you had to do was to download the Box app from the Android Market on your LG, Login to your Box account from the Application via the LG device and you got your account upgraded to 50GB for free.

BTW if you are wondering why you are still reading this post knowing you have no hope to get free 50GB storage since you don’t own an LG Android, Sorry you are mistaken. You can get the 50GB upgrade for Free even if you don’t own an LG Android.. Leave an LG, You can get the upgrade even if you don’t have an Android with you. :D

P.S If you are an LG Android user, I have already spilled the beans, Go ahead and download the Box.com Android App and enjoy your Free Upgrade [Android Market Link]

There are three methods to get the free upgrade from box.com, I will explain the three methods, But will explain only two of them. (you will come to know why soon)

Explanation of Methods

Method #1

Edit your Android’s ‘build.prop’ file.

This method involves Rooting your android phone and gaining access to the build.prop file and editing it to fake the phone model as LG Android so that the Box.com App will grant us the free upgrade.

After gaining access to the build.prop, You need to edit the product.manufacturer and product.model to the following:

ro.product.manufacturer=LGE
ro.product.model=VS910 4G

Since this method involves Rooting your Android, I will not suggest this method because if even simpler and safer methods exist, Why take the risk.

Method #2

Using a sneaky android application to upgrade the account.

This method involves installing a sneaky application built by a web developer (Credits at the end) which exploits the Box.com upgrade promo and grants your account free upgrade without any additional phone modding.

Method #3

Using Android Emulator to install the sneaky android application to upgrade account.

This method is useful for those who do not have an Android phone but want to upgrade their box.com account to the 50GB storage.

This method involves installing an Android Emulator on your PC and installing the android app on it and emulate the use of an android.
