For most websites, the major part of their traffic comes from Google Search Engine. But to get traffic from search results in any search engine you need to first get indexed by the search engine. Google is nothing different, You need to first get into the eyes (index) of Google before they list you in search results.
Your website will eventually get indexed in the search engine one day or other but would you rather wait for that day to come naturally or work for it to arrive faster? Also this article isn’t about blasting your homepage with links from that IMT Website Submitter. It might work for some, But I don’t like the idea of mass submissions after Google algorithm updates.
The tips that I am going to share with you are what worked for me more than once with new websites, Say the domain was purchased at 5AM. By 5.30AM the website was setup with the themes and pages published. By 6.30AM the homepage was sitting in Google search result. I cannot guarantee that your website will be indexed within 1 hour flat (it did for me) but am sure the tips below will speed it up.
To check if your website is indexed or not.
Google the following query.
site:yourdomain.com
If the result shows your domain, then it is obvious. Else if it shows “Your search – site:yourdomain.com – did not match any documents.” then follow my tips to get your website indexed in Google.
Here is the summary of what you will be doing.
- Add to Webmaster Tools.
- Create and Submit Sitemap.
- Fetch as Google.
- Submit a Video to Youtube.
- Social Profiles.
- CommentLuv Blog Comments.
Mostly, Your website should be seen by Google after completing the first 3 tips. Still I recommend you to complete the entire 6 tips because the last 3 tips will also help you get some quality backlinks.
1. Adding the website to Google Webmaster Tools.
Step 1. Visit Google Webmaster Tools.
Step 2. Click on Add a Site button & enter your site url (add the site with www).
Step 3. Choose the Alternate methods and choose a verification method that you like, After that click the Verify button.
Step 4. Next click the Add a site button again and enter the site url, this time without the www. Straightaway click the verify button and you should be done with it.
Step 5. Decide which version (www or non www) you want and choose it again in the webmaster tools and don’t log out of Webmaster tools yet.
2. Creating and Submitting a Sitemap.
Step 1. Assuming you are using WordPress, Install and activate this plugin : Google XML Sitemaps.
Step 2. Under WordPress Settings > XML-Sitemap. Click on build or rebuild the sitemap link.
Step 3. Visit Webmaster Tools > Your website > Crawl > Sitemaps.
Step 4. Click on Add/Test Sitemap, Type in sitemap.xml in the popup box and press Submit Sitemap.
3. Fetching your site as Google.
Step 1. Under the Crawl menu, Click on Fetch as Google.
Step 2. Click on the Fetch button.

Step 3. Your Fetch Status should return success and after that click on Submit to index.
Step 4. Choose URL and all linked pages and click Ok.
Step 5. You can also enter the url of any of your posts in the field and click on Fetch.
This should force Google into looking at your website.
4. Submit a Video to YouTube.
Step 1. Make a simple small video for your website, Checkout the free Video Creation tools I have shared : Toolbox & Resources.
Step 2. Once you have created a Video, Login to your Youtube account.
Step 3. Fill up your Channel with description about your site and add a link to homepage there.
Step 4. Go to the Channel About page and edit it. Add a custom link with your Site name and Link to your homepage. If you already have social profiles, Link them too. Replace your username in the link below to go to the About page.
http://www.youtube.com/user/username/about?edit_links=1

Step 5. Upload your created Video and publish it. Edit the video description and add a link to your homepage in the first line followed by a short description of the video, probably 100-150 words long. Fill in the tags and Save changes.
Step 6. Share the video on your Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus. Take another step and embed the video on your website if that is possible.
Youtube videos get indexed almost instantly in Google, I have seen it many times. So having a link to your homepage in the video description will make the Google Crawler/Spider follow through to your website.
5. Social Profiles.
This is self explanatory.
Step 1. Create a Facebook Page, Twitter Profile and a Google Plus Profile/Page for your website. Fill in the profile descriptions as thoroughly as possible with links to your homepage.
Step 2. Use BufferApp to schedule posts on your Social Profiles to make them active.
Step 3. Invite your friends to like the pages and ask them to visit your website.
Step 4. Share your homepage and any blog post url in the social profiles.
6. CommentLuv Blog Comments.
Step 1. Warning : Don’t SPAM! Now that you have read the warning.
Step 2. Open up Google and fire the following query. (replace keyword with a keyword related to your website)
keyword “This blog uses premium CommentLuv” -“The version of CommentLuv on this site is no longer supported.”
Step 3. Open up the search results and read the article completely.
Step 4. Submit a quality comment and follow the blog author on Twitter.
Step 5. Tweet to the Author informing you have left a comment and that you enjoyed the article.
This will help them in recognizing you as a true reader and in approving your comment.
If you have followed the above tips, You can be assured that within the next few hours your website will come up in Google when you query it (Check the post top for the method).
I hope this article helped you in getting your new website quickly indexed in Google. Please share the article with your friends on Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus.
Hey Anoop,
So how much time would you say all of that should take in order to get your site indexed? I mean do you have to do each of these steps in order for it to show up in just an hour or what happens if you miss a step?
I haven’t done this in so long now I wouldn’t know myself but I appreciate all the suggestions you share here. I have several blogging friends who I think this information could really help so I’ll be sure to pass this along to them.
Thank you for this post and great information.
Have a wonderful week.
