Netflix has been launched in nearly 130 countries now. Even India!
Netflix India has a pricing structure similar to that of Netflix USA i.e Rs. 500, Rs. 650 and Rs. 800 for Basic, Standard and Premium plans respectively.
You can find the detailed differences between the plans in the chart below.
Although Netflix offers you a Free month of full unlimited service to try before you shell out money on them, the Free trial requires you to have a Credit Card or an International Usage enabled Debit Card.
And as you know, people are not comfortable linking their Cards online before knowing what the service has to offer. I for once was reluctant to provide them details before knowing the list of shows available on Netflix India.
Am sure many of you are wondering the same. Hence I decided to share this list of all the movies and TV shows available on the Netflix India platform.
Tip #1: HDFC Bank users can use NetSafe Virtual Credit Cards to signup for the service.
Tip #2: Buy the Rs. 800 plan and share the cost and login with 4 friends. Yes Netflix is cool with you sharing your password.
Whats in store?
You can find the complete list of Movies and TV Shows available on Netflix India in here: AllFlicks India.
Although Netflix is always adding new shows and movies to its catalog, at present Netflix India has around 750 digital media available for streaming for the Indian audience.
Another horrifying fact will make you wonder if its really worth signing up for Netflix India. Around 93% of shows available on Netflix USA is not available on Netflix India at present. (Source)
Does it Buff… .. .. er?
Buffering is not the true term to use but am sure all you want to know is if the TV shows and Movies are going to lag when playing on a typical Indian broadband connection.
Truth: After 10 seconds of initial buffering, it flows smoothly when tested on a 1Mbps connection. But forget the Ultra HD streaming unless you have atleast 10Mbps connection.
So is it really worth it?
Personally speaking, its too early to speak. I hear Netflix is working to obtain licenses to bring more TV Shows and Movies to the newly added countries.
For Indian movie lovers currently there are around 80 titles in the catalog but you won’t be blown away by the collection since there are only a few popular picks in it.
But am kind of satisfied with the current catalog. It has some major titles and Netflix originals and also some shows which I wanted to watch but couldn’t find on *cough*orrents.
I suggest you give the free trial a try, just don’t forget to cancel the subscription before the 30 days ends if you are not satisfied with the service. They will remind you 2 days before the trial ends.
Hope you liked this Netflix India review, if you did then share it with your friends on Facebook and Twitter. Oh and on Google Plus too if you are on there (still).
